Writing:

One day there was a Monarch butterfly. She was a traveller. One day she was flying and decided to land on a poisonous milkweed flower with her beautiful wings. When she landed she laid an egg. This egg then hatched into a caterpillar. The caterpillar is now a larvae. It was now an insect. For one week he ate crunchy leaves and an orange. One week after the caterpillar hatched it turned into a cocoon which is also called a chrysalis. The patterns of his wings developed while he was in the cocoon. While it was in its cocoon he was blending in with the enviroment around him and no predators saw him. When the cocoon hatched it was tim for the Monarch butterflies to migrate and he had his first flight.

Poem

I met a traveller from an antique land

Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone

Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,

Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown

And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command

Tell that its sculptor well those passions read

Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,

The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed.

And on the pedestal these words appear:

`My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings:

Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!'

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay

Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,

The lone and level sands stretch far away.

By Percy Bysshe Shelley

This poem is talking about how some great things will always have to end sometime.

Monarch Butterfly Cloze exercise

The Monarch butterfly is a very interesting creature. Its colours are amazing with black and orange and its ability to eat milkweed is unbelievable. These are just some of the many things of the Monarch butterfly.

When it migrates it can cover 128 km and it can reach up to speeds of 18 km an hour. These insects migrate to warmer places over the winter because it is more comfortable.

When flying it travels 5 - 6 metres above the Earth’s ground. This is about the height of 2 and a half Mr Mcs. Although it can’t go above the ground when it is a caterpillar, it truly is a magnificent sight.

Once there was a panda. This panda was in a picture and next to the panda was a person. People kept on walking past this picture and starting to punch the person next to the panda. Now this person's arms were pink and purple. One day a man decided that he would take this picture and hang it in his house. The man did this and they all lived happily ever after.

Poem

if there are any heavens my mother will(all by herself)have
one. It will not be a pansy heaven nor
a fragile heaven of lilies-of-the-valley but
it will be a heaven of blackred roses

I think that this bit of the poem is saying that if there is a heaven that her mother will have one all to herself and it will not be very pretty but it is what her mother likes.
